Guide to Finding Bidet Toilets in Singapore

Everything you need to know about locating and using bidet-equipped toilets across the island.

Why Bidet Toilets Matter

For millions of people around the world, water-based cleansing after using the toilet is not a luxury—it is the norm. Bidet toilets and bidet sprays are standard fixtures across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Japan, and South Korea, valued for the superior hygiene they provide compared to dry paper alone.

In Singapore, bidet adoption has grown steadily over the past decade. Once found almost exclusively in private homes and high-end hotels, bidet sprays and bidet toilet seats are now appearing in shopping malls, office buildings, hawker centres, and even some MRT station restrooms. This shift reflects a broader awareness of personal hygiene, sustainability (less toilet paper waste), and the comfort that water cleansing offers.

Despite growing availability, finding a bidet-equipped toilet when you are out and about remains a challenge. Public restroom directories rarely mention bidet availability, and there is no official database. That is exactly why Bidet Beacon SG exists—to map every publicly accessible bidet toilet in Singapore so you never have to wonder again.

Where to Find Bidet Toilets in Singapore

Bidet-equipped restrooms can be found in more places than you might expect. Here is a breakdown of the most common locations:

Shopping Malls

Many newer and recently renovated malls in Singapore have installed bidet sprays in at least some of their restroom cubicles. Malls in the Orchard Road belt, Marina Bay area, and suburban heartland centres like Jewel Changi Airport, VivoCity, and ION Orchard are known to offer bidet-equipped facilities. Coverage varies by floor and wing, so checking the full locations list beforehand saves time.

Hotels

Hotels are among the most reliable places to find bidet toilets. Many mid-range and upscale hotels in Singapore equip their guest bathrooms with handheld bidet sprays or built-in bidet toilet seats. Lobby-level restrooms in these hotels are often accessible to the public and feature the same bidet installations as the guest rooms.

Hawker Centres & Food Courts

A growing number of hawker centres, particularly those that have undergone recent renovations by the National Environment Agency, now include bidet sprays. Newer hawker centres built under the “Hawker Centre 3.0” programme tend to have better restroom facilities overall, including bidet sprays in individual cubicles.

MRT Stations & Transport Hubs

Select MRT stations along newer lines (such as the Thomson-East Coast Line and Downtown Line) have restrooms with bidet sprays. Integrated transport hubs that combine bus interchanges with commercial space also sometimes offer bidet-equipped restrooms.

Mosques & Religious Institutions

Mosques in Singapore universally provide bidet sprays in their restroom facilities, as water cleansing is a religious requirement. Many mosques welcome visitors to use their facilities. Similarly, some temples and community centres provide bidet sprays in their restrooms.

Office Buildings & Co-Working Spaces

Premium office buildings and modern co-working spaces increasingly include bidet sprays as part of their washroom amenities. If you work in the CBD, there is a good chance your building already has them.

How to Use Bidet Beacon SG

Bidet Beacon SG is a free, map-based tool designed to help you find the nearest bidet toilet in seconds. Here is how to get the most out of it:

Interactive Map

The main map displays every known bidet toilet location in Singapore as a colour-coded marker. Tap or click any marker to see the location name, type, and distance from your current position. Pan and zoom the map to explore different areas, or let GPS centre the map on your location automatically.

Filters by Type

Use the filter tabs to narrow results by category. You can view only male toilets, female toilets, or hotel restrooms depending on what you need. The map updates instantly when you switch filters, showing only the relevant markers.

Search

Looking for a specific mall or area? Use the search bar to type a location name. The app will filter and highlight matching results so you can jump straight to the information you need without scrolling through the entire list.

GPS & Distance

Grant location permission and the app will show your position on the map as a blue dot. Every bidet location then displays its distance from you, and the list view sorts by proximity so the nearest options appear first. Your location data stays entirely on your device—it is never sent to any server. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Favorites

Found a go-to spot? Tap the heart icon on any location to save it as a favorite. Your favorites are stored locally in your browser and appear in a dedicated Favorites tab for quick access. This is especially useful for saving restrooms near your workplace, favourite malls, or regular commute route.

Types of Bidet Installations

Not all bidets are the same. Here are the most common types you will encounter in Singapore’s public and semi-public restrooms:

Handheld Bidet Spray (Bum Gun)

The most common type in Singapore. A hand-held spray head attached to a flexible hose, mounted on the wall next to the toilet. You control the water pressure and direction manually. These are inexpensive to install, which is why they are the most widely found option in public restrooms, hawker centres, and older buildings.

Built-In Bidet Toilet Seats

Electronic bidet seats (such as those made by TOTO Washlet or similar brands) replace the standard toilet seat and offer an integrated spray nozzle, adjustable water temperature, and sometimes a warm air dryer. These are most commonly found in upscale hotels, premium office buildings, and some newer mall restrooms. They provide a hands-free experience and are generally considered the most hygienic option.

Integrated Bidet Toilets

A complete toilet unit with built-in bidet functionality. These high-end units are less common in public settings but can be found in luxury hotels and some premium commercial buildings. They combine the toilet bowl and bidet system into a single seamless fixture with features like automatic lid opening, heated seats, and deodorisation.

Standalone Bidet Fixtures

A separate porcelain basin installed next to the toilet. While common in parts of Europe and the Middle East, standalone bidets are rare in Singapore due to space constraints. You are unlikely to encounter them in public facilities here.

Tips for Using Public Bidet Facilities

Using a public bidet spray is straightforward, but a few practical tips will help ensure a comfortable and hygienic experience:

  • Test the water pressure first. Before directing the spray, press the trigger gently to gauge the water pressure. Some sprays can be surprisingly strong.
  • Aim carefully. Point the spray head downward and angle it towards the area you want to clean. Keep the spray inside the toilet bowl to avoid splashing water on the floor or your clothing.
  • Wipe the spray handle before and after. For hygiene, use a piece of toilet paper to wipe the spray handle before you use it and leave it clean for the next person.
  • Pat dry afterwards. Use a small amount of toilet paper to pat the area dry after washing. This combination of water cleansing and light drying provides the best hygiene outcome.
  • Hang the spray back properly. After use, make sure the spray head is returned to its holder and is not dripping onto the floor. This keeps the cubicle dry and pleasant for the next user.
  • Report faulty equipment. If you find a broken or leaking bidet spray, let the building management know. Reporting helps maintain the facilities for everyone.
